Velo-city 2017: The Global Cycling Summit will be held at two spectacular venues, Concert- and Congress building ‘De Vereeniging’ and the municipal theater (‘Stadsschouwburg’ in Dutch), right in the very center of the city of Nijmegen at the famous Keizer Karel plein (Emperor Charles Square named after Emperor Charlemagne 742-814).
The distance from the venues to Nijmegen Central Station is only a few hundred meters, or a 3 minutes’ walk. From here with 6 trains an hour there is an excellent train service to- and from the new magnificent Central Station in Arnhem, the commute takes 13 – 18 minutes (depending on the type of train).
Concert- and Congress venue ‘De Vereeniging’ was built in the rich tradition of 1914, designed by the architect Oscar Leeuw and is renowned for its fabulous acoustics and beautiful design. The main concert- and congress hall can hold 1.400 people and there are several smaller rooms from 40-300 seats available to the conference. The venue also has a fine restaurant, which will be used during the conference as the ‘International Lounge’, where delegates can meet. Around ‘De Vereeniging’ two giant tents will be placed to host the Velo-city 2017 Exhibition with around 60 booths.
