Reap the benefits of being a Velo-city partner

Velo-city 2017 is the world's largest conference about cycling, cycling infrastructure, bicycle innovations, bicycle safety and social and cultural change driven by cycling around the world.

Leading venue

The Velo-city conference, associated exhibition and numerous events and excursions will take place between 13 and 16 June 2017, in the world's premier cycling nation: the Netherlands. As organiser of the 2017 edition, the Netherlands has chosen the Arnhem Nijmegen City region as its venue. This is a leading region when it comes to cycling infrastructure and bicycle innovations.

Free bicycle

1,700-2,000 delegates are expected to participate in Velo-city 2017. Both ahead of and after the conference, various trips will be organised in close collaboration with cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, ’s-Hertogenbosch and The Hague. Delegates from across the globe will come together in the region for two to five days. During the conference, all delegates will have a bike at their disposal, absolutely free of charge.

Dignitaries

Due to both the extensive programme of events and the presence of many dignitaries (ministers, state secretaries, mayors and town councillors from Europe and the rest of the world), the conference will receive ample media coverage, both on TV and radio, as well as in printed and digital media.

Turnover channels

Velo-city 2017's policy is aimed at covering the costs of the conference by subsidies, entrance fees, exhibition, partnership and bartering.

Subsidies

The municipalities of Arnhem and Nijmegen and the province of Gelderland will subsidize Velo-city 2017. Other options of subsidy for instance for participants of developing countries are looked into.

Entrance fees

A total of around 1,700 people are expected to attend the conference, mainly due to the Netherlands' reputation as the world's premier cycling nation.

Exhibition

An exhibition will run at the same time as the conference, with a large number of stands. The 2017 edition will have a capacity of at least 80 stands.

Sponsoring/bartering

A substantial share of each conference's turnover comes from sponsoring. The bartering mechanism will also be used (a business provides free services, and their monetary value is recognised in the budget, even though they are provided free of charge). In exchange, the business providing the services receives full sponsorship benefits in the form of exposure, for example.

Principal partner

Platinum, Gold, Silver

Three sponsors will be honoured with the title of 'Premier Partner of Velo-city 2017': the Platinum partner, Gold partner and Silver partner. The different partnership packages provide all kinds of logo exposure in relation to the conference, complementary registration and a one-off marketing offensive aimed at all registered delegates 20 days before the start of the conference (for the Platinum and Gold partners only).

Secondary partners

Sponsored conference session

Businesses with at least two exhibition stands are entitled to run a sponsored session* as part of the conference programme. These sessions give the partner the opportunity to present or hand out communication materials or products in the session room.

*) both the subject of the session and the speaker must be approved by the programme committee.

Event or social media sponsoring

  • All coffee, tea and soft drink cups.
  • Welcome reception at the Open Air Museum, Arnhem - up to three sponsors.
  • Closing gala at St Eusebius’ Church, Arnhem - up to three sponsors.
  • The International Lounge* - up to two sponsors.

Advertising

Velo-city 2017 will offer the opportunity to advertise your company or organisation directly to over 1,700 international delegates attending the conference. We offer the following advertising opportunities:

  • Programme booklet.
  • Your message in the conference bag.
  • Your logo on the conference bag, as well as the text ‘This eco-friendly conference bag is presented to you by .....’.
  • Banner in the lobby of the conference venue - up to five sponsors.
  • Invitations and interactive communication through the conference app.

  • Lanyards with logo, as well as exposure on the website, in the programme booklet and in the conference app.
  • Business cards with logo, as well as exposure on the website, in the programme booklet and in the conference app.
  • Conference bag, as well as the text ‘This eco-friendly conference bag is presented to you by .....’.

Other partnership options

There are additional partnership opportunities to those mentioned above, such as partnering sideline activities or excursions. Your business or organisation can also sponsor one of the keynote speakers, in close consultation with the programme committee.
